Ingredients:
2 packages of yeast or 6 tsp. Red Star Yeast
2 3/4 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
2-3 lbs. all-purpose flour

Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 3/4 c. warm water, and set aside. Mix together sugar, salt, Crisco, and 2 c. hot water. In a large bowl, measure 5 1/2 c. flour. Make a well in the flour, then add shortening and yeast mixtures. Knead, adding in more flour as needed to make soft dough. Cover with a tea towel, and put in warm, draft-free place to rise for 1 3/4 hours. Punch down and form into loaves or rolls. Put in greased pans and let rise until they double in size, or about 1 3/4 hours. Bake at 325° for 25 minutes.

Tips:
This dough is great for pigs-in-a-blanket.
Pillsbury flour does not do as well with this recipe.
