Ingredients:

2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 c. sugar

1/2  tsp. salt

1 c. milk

1 egg, beaten

1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 qt. oil for frying

 

Directions:

Stir together all dry ingredients. Make a well in the center and pour in milk, egg, butter, and vanilla. Mix until blended. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Roll out chilled dough until it is 1/2 in. thick, then use doughnut cutter. Fry in hot oil and let drain on paper towel, then dip in maple glaze.
