Ingredients:
1 qt. maple syrup
1 c. butter or margarine
1 tub packed with snow or finely-crushed ice

Directions:
Heat syrup and butter in a large pot over medium heat. Turn temperature down if the mixture starts to boil over. When the candy thermometer reaches 324°, cool slightly, and test by spooning a tablespoon of syrup over the snow. If the syrup sits on top of the snow and clings to a fork like taffy, it’s ready! Pour in ribbons over the ice.

An easy treat to make year-round, these are a traditional recipe among sugar-makers! Children love helping to make this taffy-like candy during the cold, snowy seasons.
